Do you feel like your hormones are messed up? Do you feel like your metabolism has slowed down? (Check here for a list of common symptoms.)
Here are some simple tips that you can start working on today, without a prescription.
- Rest. It is extremely important to be in bed no later than 10:00 p.m. each night, sleeping in as close to complete darkness as possible and staying in bed until naturally awakened next morning. It is also extremely important to have one day of rest out of each seven.
- Eat meals on a schedule. This is important so your body can correct its internal clock and the rate at which it releases hormones. Eat some healthy fats and protein within half an hour of waking. Try to eat at the same times each day, before you feel jittery.
- Avoid fluoride and chlorine in your water. These disrupt your thyroid gland.
- You’ll need plenty of good fats and cholesterol, because your body uses these to make hormones. Eat a good quality coconut oil, high-vitamin cod liver oil, butter (ideally from grass-fed cows), extra-virgin olive oil, and plenty of the saturated fats in whole milk (non-pasteurized, non-homogenized) and eggs. - Homemade, lacto-fermented foods (such as beet kvass, sauerfkraut, kefir, yogurt, raw cheeses, and kombucha) are high in vitamin C, which is healing to your adrenal and thyroid glands.
- Fish sauce nourishes your thyroid with iodine while flavoring your foods without MSG.
- Celtic sea salt nourishes your thyroid, provides trace minerals, and supports adrenal function.
- Rest the glands that produce enzymes by eating easy-to-digest foods that are raw, lacto-fermented, soaked, or sprouted. Gelatin-rich broths are also very healing.
- Get plenty of sunshine, with no sunscreen. Sunlight is created by God to provide your body with vitamin D, and as the light enters your eyes, your circadian rhythms will begin to normalize.
- Laugh! Give hugs! Don’t be a control freak. 🙂
